Abstract

Given the global climate emergency and the growing risk of ecological collapse in the Amazon, the
development of innovative approaches to promote sustainable development in the region is required.
This article presents the conceptual and methodological basis of the systemic approach built on practical
work conducted in different states of the Amazon, particularly emphasizing the work developed by the
Amazônia Sustainable Foundation since 2008. Additionally, concrete results of the systemic approach
in conservation units in the Amazon are presented, including poverty reduction, deforestation, improved
life quality, and institutional performance evaluation. Finally, it presents a scenario that gives hope for
environmental protection and the prosperity of Amazon societies, as long as resources are mobilized to
meet the challenges presented by the current context.
