About the Journal
Revista Tempo do Mundo was founded in 2009 as an indexed, arbitrated, four-monthly journal of national and international diffusion and circulation. Its thematic focus was economy, international relations, and development. Since its first edition, the journal was intended to be a way to present and promote debates in the international scope. The first ten issues of the journal were edited in Portuguese or English, with online and printed versions that would allow a wide diffusion of the publication.
In 2013, the journal underwent an important transformation in its objectives, which no longer had an emphasis on the global South and began to deal with international issues in general. Between December 2013 and January 2015, the journal was discontinued. In 2019, the process of institutionalization of the journal was completed with the publication of the Bylaws, Internal Regulations, and Work Plan (https://www.ipea.gov.br/revistas/index.php/rtm/estatuto).
From 2020 on, Revista Tempo do Mundo has a new Advisory Academic Council composed of 41 members aiming at academic, thematic, and methodological plurality and institutional, regional (all regions of Brazil), and international diversity (15 countries). It is currently published once in four months, with its articles in the original language (English, Portuguese or Spanish), and the numbering of its editions has become continuous.
Tempo do Mundo is a trilingual publication of the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea), which aims to promote debates on contemporary issues. Its field of action is international economics and politics, with multidisciplinary approaches on the essential dimensions of development, including economic, political, social, and sustainability.
The journal intends to contribute to Ipea's strengthening of space for academic and political dialogue and exchange of ideas and knowledge that will allow it to accompany cutting-edge research, supporting the development of public policies in favor of the country's development.
The journal uses long-term preservation services where the articles are currently archived such as CLOCKSS/LOCKSS and PKP PN.
