DISPUTES BETWEEN STATES AND TRANSNATIONAL INVESTORS
REFLECTIONS FROM THE CUMULUS OF CASES AGAINST ARGENTINA
Abstract
The political-economic collapse experienced by Argentina in early XXI century led to far-reaching consequences for the country. The disputes initiated by transnational investors in international arbitration institutions are one of the most significant of those consequences. The purpose of this article is to analyze the main features and the course of the claims against Argentina in those institutions. The article departs from the premise that the analysis of the procedures against the country sheds light on the way in which disputes between states and transnational investors thrive in the context of globalization.
