Abstract

The irregularity in the Brazilian Land Structure is the results of consolidation different processes of land occupation which took place throughout history, because there was also the absence, failure and inefficiency of public policies, combined with the ineffectiveness of some laws. Today we face same problems generating social conflicts and obstacles to development, such as concentration
of ownership, insecurity of possession, precarious settlement, socio-spatial exclusion and environmental degradation. That and with the advent of the 1988 Constitution and its system of guarantees and rights, the land regularization has become a priority. Sao Paulo State, aiming to improve its land policy, created the ITESP Foundation, which was responsible for putting together and into practice many actions previously scattered and disjointed in a Program called “My Land” which has achieved excellent results by promoting peace, social justice and development, with specific projects for communities and areas with serious land conflicts, environmental restrictions
and low human development index.
