Abstract

This paper aims to identify what are the components of Bahia’s micro regions economic growth in the period comprehended between 2000-2010. The key variable is formal employment and the methodology analysis used was the shift-share. The data suggests that employment has been concentrated in few regions, at the limits of the territory and there is a predominance of a dynamic sector in those areas. Moreover, an expressive part of the territory, which is located at an arid area, doesn’t comprehend competitive advantages in almost any sector.
