Abstract

This paper has as objective to evaluate the main factors that influence the students’ success who are entering at vestibular of University Federal of Pernambuco in Recife comparatively to the new Agreste’s campus and Recife, as well the differences between each course chosen. Intends to examine the similarities and differences that characterize each campus and course chosen. To achieve these goals, we use the socioeconomic questionnaire and the final score of the candidate to carry out an empirical analysis of the odds ratio of approval. Are used in the analysis of 2009 data consists of 2992 observations, provided by COVEST and the method used for the analysis is
the logit. It appears that students are more likely to have success in the vestibular entrance exam preparatory course, lie in the city which UFPE campus is located and who wishes to study and tried more than once the exam. In addition, students have parents with higher levels of formal
education and high family income.
