Abstract

To delineate the profile of teenage pregnancy in Brazil and its macro-regions from the socioeconomic,
demographic, cultural, regional and behavioral characteristics is needed to resolve the high prevalence of early pregnancy in countries around the world. Based on information from the National Survey of Demography and Health of Children and Woman 2006 of a sample that includes only women who had at least one pregnancy, and to qualify if the pregnancy occurred in adolescence was built, using the age of the first pregnancy if it is between 10 and 19 years. From the estimation of logit models, it appears that for Brazil, women who do not reside in the North, were created in the Catholic or
Evangelical religions, with higher education, and especially those protected during first intercourse,
are less likely to become pregnant as teenagers. So, are recommended policies that are designed to inform the importance of protecting themselves during sexual intercourse, as well as the distribution of contraceptives.
